A little something about leather
Remmen Nº1 is not the only leather strap available. But we are convinced that it is the best one. Not only is it a timeless design that will work as great tomorrow as it will today. Our choice of quality leather also is of crucial importance.
Sustainable future
The most common way to treat leather involves using hexavalent chromium during some part of the tanning process. This compound is extremely harmful to the environment and cancerous to mankind. We wouldn´t want to hang that on our shoulders.
Vegetable tanning
When making Remmen Nº1 we instead use a different method called vegetable tanning. Using natural tannins originating from the bark of trees we process our leather in a way that is as environmentally friendly as is currently possible.
Finest full grain leather
Furthermore Remmen Nº1 is made out of the finest full grain leather. This means that it stems from the top layer of the cow hide. Unlike manufacturers using cheap leather we do not use any synthetic coating to alter the characteristics or appearance of our straps. What you see is what you get. In the case of Remmen that means a flexible, more durable strap, made out of the finest leather available.
Sweden & Italy
We source our leather from Tärnsjö, Sweden as well as Tuscany, Italy. Tärnsjö Garveri have been producing only the finest leather products for more than 140 years. Before being shipped to Sweden, our Italian leather is produced in the lush area of Tuscany by craftsmen belonging to the The Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Consortium.

Care instructions
For character
If you want the absolute most natural and patinated look for your Remmen you only have to use it a lot. The natural fats and waxes from the vegetable tanning will dissolve from the heat from your hands and dirt, water and grease will in time give your Remmen a unique look, much like old leather belts.
For durability
For maximum durability we recommend that you treat your Remmen with a gentle leather conditioner every now and then. Remember to clean your Remmen first and wipe off any excess conditioner to not clog the pores of the leather. Please note that the Remmen No 1 ”Natural” will darken faster if treated with leather conditioner.
Cleaning and storage
Like our skin, leather needs to breathe as well. Do not store your Remmen in a plastic bag or any nonporous covers, which may result in mould growth. Cover with breathable cloth such as cotton sheets when storing. Cleaners that contain alcohol, turpentine, and mineral spirits must never be used on your Remmen.
